The support for formwork units, scaffolding frames or similar has square tubes telescopically led in each other, the inner one being extensible by a drive roller with a milled edge, mounted in slits which slope against the support axis. The counter bearing for the roller (143) is a support roller (144), contacting the inner tube (12) from behind and running with it. This may be mounted in ball bearing (1442). There may be a housing unit for setting on the outer tube (11), to accommodate the extension mechanism (14).
