A spaceflight accelerometer has a metallised sphere (10) in an evacuated housing and six electrode pairs with regulated supply voltage arranged in the spatial axes measuring the position of the sphere and indicating it via optoelectronic or capacitive measurement devices producing electrical measurement signals. It is designed for highly accurate economical acceleration measurement. The ectrode pairs are adjustable along their respective co-ordinate axes and can effect sphere repositioning via control elements. The electrode pair displacement required to null the sphere position is a measure of the corresp. axial acceleration.
