The straight guide for a machine component is a travel rail whose working faces are inclined at between 45 and 90 deg. to each other, and accommodating an L-shaped bearing bracket with a roller track on one or both flanges. The screws (10) securing the bracket together and/or holding it in place lie in a plane between the rail working face (2a) and the roller track (5) return run. A component (16) absorbing pressure is on the opposite side of the return run (13) from the guide rail (2). The bracket can be in two or more parts, each supporting one bearing, one of which is of the plain or hydrostatic type.
