The recording element writing point is electrically heated and plots the record by thermal contact with a temp.-sensitive layer of a recording chart. Heating power applied to the writing point heater depends on the relative movement between the writing point and chart. A d.c. voltage source (28) supplies the power for the heater (4). One of the connections between them consists of a flexible cable (23), and the other of conducting parts of the guiding unit (8, 9) for the recording element (6). The heating element resistance is less than 15 ohms.
