Cleaning and/or disinfecting method is for seats. The process is carried out either automatically after each flushing of the toilet or manually as required. A torsion spring moves the toilet seat against a stop (4) into a vertical position. The seat is disinfected by spraying of the disinfectant (9) through spray nozzles (3) attached to a nozzle support (5). The spray nozzles are operated when the valve rod (13) is actuated and are controlled by a valve (12) safety sensor (11) and a safety valve (10).
