Wood pulp is produced from tree trunks in a disintegrator having a rotor against which the trunks are pressed by carrying the disintegrating process at a pressure and supplying water attemp. of 100 degrees C. Pref. the disintegration process is carried out at a pressure of 1 to 3 bar and temp. of from 120 to 130 degrees C. Wood pulp produced is more uniform in its consistency, whilst the fibre length is increased and power input is reduced at temp. of approx. 122 degrees C.
