<p>Metal foils esp. foils for electrolytic capacitors, are roughened by pulling them through a pickling bath between cathodes, with the foil connected as the anode. Plates made of electrically insulating material, which are suspended between the foil and the cathodes, carry a grid of perforations which can be closed by pressing in suitable plugs with a snap fit, to alter the current density distribution. This is a simple way of varying the current density distribution over a wide range. The high current density near the current collector rollers can be compensated and changes in the pickling solution or foil speed can be offset.</p> |
