DENSITY MEASUREMENT METHOD AND DENSITY METER AND CONTACT SURFACE MATERIAL USED THEREFOR

PURPOSE:To reduce measuring errors caused by ruggedness of the surface of an object to be measured by interposing a contact surface material with a shape susceptible to deformation between the surface of an object to be measured and a contact surface part with the object to be measured of a gamma ray density meter to remove a gap between the surface and the contact surface part. CONSTITUTION:A contact surface material 31 with a shape susceptible to deformation comprising a material with a density almost equal to asphalt 2 is interposed between the surface 2a of the asphalt 2 as object to be measured and a contact surface part 1a with the object to be measured of a gamma-ray density meter 1. gamma rays are radiated from a ray source section 10 through the contact surface material 31 and scattered gamma rays are detected with a detecting section 20 to measure a density of the object 2 to be measured. The contact surface material 31 is preferably those which is easy to deform by pressing to fill the gap and a plastic material as clay-like material and unvulcanized rubber such as silicon patty are available.
