Supplementary feeding-stuffs with APF action are produced from the sludge obtained by the methane fermentation of waste materials from the human and animal foodstuff industries and from the fermentation industries by the process according to the parent Specification, the process being characterized in that the deposited sludge material is separated from the supernatant waste water by controlled removal of the sewage sludge, said waste water then being treated with a flocculation agent whereby a flocculated sludge is obtained which is then concentrated and/or dried. The extracts may be used for the production of pure Vitamin B12. Flocculatio is suitably effected below 30 DEG C. by means of an aluminium or ferric salt. A polyelectrolyte may also be present as a flocculation aiding agent.
