<p>A method for producing plastic sections welded together by their ends, in which the sections are clamped, the end-surfaces thereof are heated by being brought against a heat reflector, the softened ends are brought together under pressure, and the weld bead is machined off. The method comprises the guiding of the sections externally as far as the edges of the weld, leaving the fusion area exposed, and pressing the softened end-surfaces of the sections together until external guides almost come together, thus restricting the formation of the weld bead and making it possible to scrape the bead off while it is still hot. The device comprises a clamping device, displaceable carriages, and a heat reflector. The sections to be welded together by their ends are clamped to the carriages, and have their end-surfaces pushed against the heat refecctor by moving one or both carriages, and the softened ends being pressed together after the heat reflector has been withdrawn. Bars equipped with blades run parallel with the end-surfaces of the sections. The bars are used to clamp the sections, which are secured between the bars in a manner such that the blades extend along the sections almost to the edges of the weld.</p> |
