A carrier is described which is provided with a spiral structure in which sound and/or image information is stored in the form of frequency-modulated or phasemodulated signals. It is stated that the structure is composed of blocks of variable lengths which lie in one plane and are separated by areas of variable lengths which also lie in one plane. It is stated that the blocks have a coefficient of reflection or of transmission which is different from that of the areas. It is described that the two planes are spaced from one another by a constant distance.
