The agent may be used most conveniently in solution form. The agent is produced by neutralizing tall oil pitch with an acid number of 20-70 mg KOH per gram with a solution of calcium oxide at elevated temperature to the desired acid number between 0 and 7 mg KOH per gram. Application of this agent to a material normally subject to corrosion acts to prevent corrosion from occurring.
