Electrode for cathode collector for use in dry cells comprises a plastics core covered with at least one conductive layer chemically resistant to the working medium. The conductive layer is prepared by chemical electrochemical or galvanic deposition of an alloy of Ni, Cr and Mo onto the plastics material, or by plasma deposition under reduced pressure opt. in combination with one or other of the previous methods. Alternatively, SiC maybe deposited on the plastics material by plasma deposition. The carbon electrode may be replaced by a cheaper electrode which can be made readily in any shape. Adequate electrical conductivity can be obtd. by deposition of a layer of conductive material 0.01 mm thick.
