<p>Homogeneous liq. compsns. contg. a cuprammonium complex of one or more 1-4C monocarboxylic acids (I) are claimed. The compsns. contain 4-10 wt.% dissolved Cu and =40 wt.% H2O. The compsns. are useful as fungicidal preservatives for paints, wood and textiles, and for controlling algae growth and marine fouling. The complexes have greater water solubility than the corresp. cu carboxylate salts, which facilitates uniform application of an effective amt. of Cu (esp. by spraying). The compsns. are prepd. by reacting an acid ammonium salt of (I) with CuO or Cu2O in the presence of aq. NH4OH. Pref. acid salts are NH4 diformate, diacetate, and dipropionate.</p> |
