<p>Prodn. of spectacle frames or pts. involves casting a liquid mixt. of bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (I), isophorone diamine (II) and a polypropylene glycol triamine (III) with a mol. wt. of 300-700 and the formula Me-C- CH2-(OCH2-CHMe)-aNH2 3 (in which a is 1-4 for each gp.). The mixt. is cast in a suitable mould, cured by heating the mould to the required temp. and removed after cooling in the mould. The cure temp. is pref. is not >90, esp. 70-90 degrees C. (I), (II) and (III) are degassed before mixing and the liquid mixt. is heated to 60-65 degrees C before casting. The pref. compsn. is 100 (wt.) pts. (I), 2-15, esp. 5 pts. (II) and 30-45, esp. 35 pts. (III). The resin has the required flexibility and heat distortion temp. for this purpose. Semi-finished goods can be made with a tensile strength of ca. 5.27 kg/mm2, flexural strength of ca. 12.89 kg/mm2 and impact strength of ca. 60 kg/mm2.</p> |
