Solidified prods. of aq. sludges or pastes and setting agents contain CaSO4.2H2O. The prods. are produced by adding CaSO4, pref. contg. less water of crystallisation than CaSO4.2H2O, to the aq. sludges or pastes. Solidification allows the disposal of viscous, oily or pasty waste materials which are handled or transported with difficulty. Gypsum anhydrite, obtd. as waste prod., can be used to treat another waste prod. The solid formed resists storage and is free from soluble materials which could be washed out with water.
