Overhead ventilating duct radial air outlet - has radial arms forming segments with openings covered by arms forming swirl chambers

The air outlet on the underside of an overhead ventilating duct (1) has a circular housing (2) forming the connection with a grid plate (3) inside. Suspended below by a set of vertical rods (11) is a ring shaped section (5). This is divided into segments by radial arms. Each arm has a curved top (8) and controls a radial slot in each segment. A small dia. tube (10) passes up the centre of the structure, communicating with the horizontal duct. The whole system forms an eddy current chamber for the air passing through.
