Electrophtographic light-sensitive element for copiers of the image transfer type has a photoconductive, insulating layer of CdS and CdCO3 contg. ca. 2-4 (wt.) pts. Mn stearate to 100 pts. photoconducting CdS.nCdCO3 or CdS(Cu).nCdCO3(Cu) powder (in which 0 n =4. The Cu content is 0.025-0.1 atom-% w.r.T. Cd). The layer is produced by thermal cure of a dispersion of the powder, the Mn stearate, a resin and a solvent. Pref. the fine powder with Cu uniformly distributed in the CdS and CdCO3 is produced by the reactions: Cd2++Cu2++CO32- right arrow CdCO3(Cu) and CdCO3 (Cu)+S2- right arrow CdS(Cu).nCdCO3(Cu). The resin contains acrylic resin(s). The dispersion is applied to the conductive substrate in a thickness of 10-100 mu m. High quality copies can be produced and the memory phenomenon is avoided by addn. of a small amt. of Mn stearate. Also, no irregularities occur in mfr., esp. w.r.T. dark decay rate, charge capacity and spectral sensitivity.
|
