A method of continuously cooling hog slag from a combustion or firing plant, esp. a waste incinerator, consists of discharging the hot slag into a trough containing water, and maintaining the water level by make-up of cold water and removal of hot water. The hot water removed from the trough is cooled, mechanically purified and recycled back to the trough. During interruptions or faults which require the trough to be emptied of water, the extra quantity of water is stored within the recycling circuit plant. Pref. the hot water from the trough, passes to a slag bunker, then to a setting tank, to a pump chamber, and to a water collecting and mixing tank. Other process water may be introduced into the recycling circuit. By recycling the water, a minimum amount of discharge in to the public drainage system and thus a minimum amt. of pollution results.
|
