Multi-wire stranding machine for star quad communication cable - folds flat cable element with row of conductors into hollow tube joining edges

A multi-wire stranding element such as for example a star quad for use in communication cables. The conductors are mechanically linked via an insulation made from extruded plastics. The stranding element consists of a flat cable (1) with the side edges (6, 7) designed in the form of complementary snap action shapes. The flat cable is folded into the form of a hollow tube and the two longitudinal edges are meshed and held in position by spring action. The edges are additionally secured by an adhesive. An alternative version may form a tube with a smooth bore which is filled by a solid core.
