The process to develop a twisted yarn for use in bielastic woven fabrics, for covering foam-clad furniture, uses an open-end spinning unit to spin the yarn to be bound in with the other two natural, synthetic and/or elastomeric threads so that they are twisted together. The system allows the use of open-end spun yarns, without the elastomeric component showing, in a fabric which can be treated thermally without damage. An adhesive agent is applied to the threads so that they bind together on twisting. The open-end spun yarn is opened out by hot steam in an underpressure of 0.1-0.2bar, and its surface is swollen in water at 70 degrees C for 10 minutes. A ketonic or halogenalcan organic solvent can be added to the loosening agent. The threads to be twisted together are delivered by separate spools in a common plane and parallel orientation, while a delivery cylinder is used to give a forward slip of 350% to the elastomeric thread to control the unwinding. Polyacryl nitrile fibres are pref. used for the open-end spun yarn.
|
