<p>PURPOSE:At inlet opening of induction heater for steel strip, means to detect the protrusion of the steel strip is installed. The means automatically stop the operation of induction mechanism when abnormality is found, to thereby protecting the furnace refractory from damage. CONSTITUTION:Steel strip 1 advances through the conveyor 3, the pinch rollers 2, skid member 4 and is transferred to the skid rail 9 of the induction furnace 6. At the top close to the inlet opening of the furnace, the metal stopper 5 is mounted to prevent arch shaped steel strip from passing. If the steel strip has protrusions, it contacts with the stopper 5, the contact signal is relayed through automatic device to cause the steel strip to be stopped, and the heater is automatically turned off. Thus, the process eliminates refractory damage which might be caused by protrusion of the steel strip.</p> |
