摘要 <p>The mechanism is for use on mobile structures for personnel operating high rise selving systems, to enable them to rescue themselves from the high position cabin in case of emergency. The roping-down mechanism is fitted to the upper edge of the operator's platform and consists of cable drum (22) with coils of cable (11) at the free end of which a suitable harness for the operator's descent is fitted. Inside the cable drum (22) one or two centrifugal force-action brake mechanism (21) are fitted. The drum is fitted to the shaft stub (17) by two hubs. Hub (23) is keyed-on to the shaft stub while a second hub is seated by bearing (18) to the stub. The keyed-on part of the drum has the brake drums (21) bolted to web (23) so that when the drum rotates pinion (25) travels along inside teething (20) of bearing-seated part of the drum. The rotating pinion drives two semi circular flyweights which expand to the action of centrifugal force and produce friction on the inner surface of the brake drum.</p>
