The luggage net is used to secure luggage to a car roof rack, or trailer and incorporates an anti-theft alarm device activated via a key switch (11). The alarm device (10) is contained in a housing, together with the supply battery, the alarm contacts and the key switch, which is positioned at the centre of the net and from which the rings for securing the net extend. Pref. the key switch (11) is used both to secure the removable cover for the housing and to activate the alarm device (10) which is a hooter, siren or bell energised by a battery, supplemented by a lamp signal.
