[Also in Group XXI] A decompression stage indicator for divers comprises a chamber 10 connected through a throttle 13 to a non-deformable chamber 12 connected with a pressure gauge 14. The effect of the throttle is such that at any given depth the gauge does not register the expected pressure until sufficient time has elapsed to allow the necessary amount of nitrogen to escape from the tissues of the diver's body. A bladder 15 containing compressible fluid is situated in chamber 12 if chambers 10, 12 contain water but is unnecessary if they contain air. Throttle 13 may be a calibrated hole, a nozzle or a labyrinth. In another embodiment, Fig. 4, a container 101 formed with holes 102 has a flexible casing 103 defining a chamber 104 connected through a porous ceramic member 121 to a non-deformable chamber 110 containing a Bourdon tube.</p> |
