The mechanism is used for grinding parts of partic. a crankshaft of a large ship's engine. It comprises two semicircular ring portions(11) which may be secured around the crank pin(1) and provided with clamp which joins them to form a complete ring. Further clamps enable this ring to be adjusted to a position parallel and central relative to the pin(1) and a block(15) rotatable on the ring(11) to guide a rotary grinder (28, 27) which produces the transition radius(3) at both ends of the crank pin. The adjusting device may be set screws in radial bores in the ring(11).
