Forming double photogravure patterns on embossed floor coverings - including pre-gelling without foaming and four colour printing

Prodn. of synthetic coverings esp. synthetic floor coverings comprises (a) printing a pattern on a carrier material; (b) discontinuously applying a plastisol opt. foamable at a thickness of =100 mu by a screen printing technique; (c) pregelling the plastisol to set it, but at a temp. lower than the decompsn. temp. of the blowing agent; (d) cooling and smoothing the coated carrier by pasage between cylinders used for imparting a grained surface; (e) effecting a second printing in >=two colours and (f) completing the gelling, and opt. foaming. Pref. a second plastisol, opt. transparent, is applied by screen printing in (e).
