Hydroxypyridine carbamates of the formula <IMAGE> I wherein R1 to R5 as defined below are valuable insecticides and particularly aphicides and Compounds of the formula <IMAGE> I' wherein one of R'1 and/or R'3 are substituted carbamoyl and the other is preferably hydrogen or methyl, R'2 is a variety of substituents among which is hydrogen and acetyl, and R'3 and R'4 preferably form together a saturated or unsaturated C4-chain which may be substituted, are valuable aphicides.
