PURPOSE:To improve damping capacity while preventing the lowering of a mechanical property, by limiting the ratio of the thickness and crack dimensions of a laminar high damping material, near which surface a number of minute cracks are mounted within specified value. CONSTITUTION:High damping capacity is obtained by installing cracks coming under the following specified conditions to a surface. In a laminar material, 0.2<a/b<100 (Where, a is the depth of a crack, and b is a space between the crack and the crack/2) when thickness is sufficiently thick as compared to the depth of the crack. In a general laminar material, 0.8>a/c>0.1 (Where, a is the depth of the crack and c is thickness/2). In a columnar material, 0.6>a/2R>0.05 (Where, a is the depth of the crack and R is a radius of a column). In a cylindrical material, 0.6>a/d>0.05 (Where, a is the depth of the crack and d is the thickness of a cylinder). |
