PURPOSE:To manufacture the title sheet the undipped side of which is not contaminated, by grinding the surface of a roll placed in the vicinity of a position at which a strip steel sheet contacts to molten metal, to mechanically remove molten metal attached to the roll surface. CONSTITUTION:Strip steel sheet 1 contacts to the surface of a bath raised with ultrasonic tip 5 to hot dip the under side, and it turns its course upward with roll 9. Sheet 1 is then regulated to a predetermined thickness with a wiper, cooled, and taken out from the apparatus through roll 10. At this time, molten metal tends to flow out from both ends of sheet 1 and to adhere to the surface of roll 9, esp. parts contacting to both ends of sheet 1. Molten metal adhered to the roll surface is attached to the undipped side of succeeding sheet 1, so rotating wire brush 11 is moved to grind the roll surface when molten metal adheres to the surface. After cleaning the surface, brush 11 is moved back again to a position in no contact with roll 9. |
