Polyethylene and its olefin deriv. were manufd. in the presence of a catalyst prepd. by treating organo A1 compds. with complex compds. soluble in hydrocarbon. The A1 compds. of the general formula (A1R5nX3-n) [R5 = hydrocarbon radical having carbon atom of 1-20, X = selected radical from hydrogen, halogen, alkoxy, allyloxy or siloxy radical, n = 1-3 were prepd. by reacting linear or cyclic siloxane compds. with Ti or Vd compds. containing at least 1>= halogen atom or complex containing organo magnecium.
