<p>The bicycle wheel hub (1) has two flanges (6) to which one end of the spokes (4) are attached. The spokes slot into holes in the flange and are held by thrust surfaces (6) around the holes perpendicular to the hub axis. The spokes holes are in a lateral groove in the flanges. They can be formed as slits or notches of circular shape. The construction enables the number of spokes to be reduced, so decreasing both air resistance and weight, maintaining wheel rigidity, factors which are of particular importance in racing bicycles.</p> |
