The impregnation of textile yarns, such as yarns for the reinforcement of plastics materials, with liquids, e.g. crosslinkable resins, is effected on bobbins stacked in rows on rigid, perforated mandrels which are pressure-injected with the liquid. Separate radial slots are provided in the mandrels over all their length, apart from the two ends. The impregnation takes place in a pressurised container of known construction. The impregnation of resin on the bobbin provides a method where the product is easy to handle, and economical to process under easily controlled conditions, producing a bubble-free layer of impregnant on the textile.
