The arrangement is intended for holding in horizontal position and placing on the road surface in vertical position of a tyred spare wheel of a lorry. It comprises a carrier plate (1) fixed to the wheel, which can be swivelled about an axis (3) parallel to the longitudinal vehicle axis and is slidable on transverse rails (4) between end stops (10, 5). The slide and swivel motion is actuated by a spindle (8, 9) or rack with hand crank (7) or by hydraulic means. The plate has vertical arms (1a, b) with rollers (2, 3) running on the lower flange (4a) of the rail. The flange has a projection (6) near the outer stop (10) and an opening for the roller (2) to pass through, allowing the plate to swivel down as it approaches the stop (10). The spindle is held on the chassis at one end, the other end being pivoted to the plate.
