PURPOSE:A composition is provided containing alkali sulfide compound such as K2S or Na2S and silica.magnesia to effectively prevent degradation and property change of various foods, medicals, metals, precision machinery and instruments. CONSTITUTION:A O2-trapping agent is provided by compounding one part by weight of alkali sulfide compound such as K2S.5H2O or Na2S.9H2O, 0.01 to 100 or preferably 0.05 to 50 parts by weight of slica, magnesia, and, if required, by adding 0.01 to 20 (particularly less than 10) parts by weight of filler such as active carbon or iron oxide. Such product generally changes color when O2 is absorbed so that it can be utilized for detection of O2 in atomosphere. Also, its heat generating property can be effectively used as heater or insulating material. |
