摘要 <p>Prodn. of an electrochromic display involves giving the surface of >=2 electrode substrates, >=1 of which is transparent, a thin coating with a soln. of transition metal cpd(s). (I) under an inert atmos. and drying between room temp. and 120 degrees C, then fixing the 2 substrates together with an ion conducting layer between them. Drying can be carried out under an inert atmos., in vacuum at 0.013-0.13 bar or under an atmos. of an ionising gas or a gas contg. free radicals. After drying, the layer has a thickness of 500-10000 angstroms. A uniform electrochromic layer of the desired thickness can be produced easily. This can be used for the reprodn. of a uniform pattern of good contrast easily and quickly, without the need for costly complex equipment.</p>
