<p>Appts. for forming thermoplastic locking patches on the threads of screws of magnetic material, consists of a magnetic holding disc assembly rotatable about a vertical axis. The assembly has a hub of non-magnetic material. This carries a ring of radially extending permanent magnets. A feeder supplies screws to the periphery of the disc, where they were held radially. Rotation of the disc moves the screws past a heating station, a plastic powder dispensing station, and a stripping station where the patched screws re removed. High output of 600 screws per minute can be achieved over long runs. The appts. will handle various types of screws e.g. headed or unheaded (set screws) without changes. Parts of the disc assembly are easy to replace in the event of damage or deterioration.</p> |
