摘要 <p>An omnidirectional windmill rotor is formed of a number (preferably seven) identical blades arranged symmetrically around a vertical shaft to which their upper and lower ends are secured. The blades are bowed outwardly at their wider central portions to define a sphere-like 'chamber' each blade having a curved trailing edge projecting outwardly beyond the leading edge of the adjacent blade in order to form a 'scoop' to receive the wind and induce rotation of the shaft. The lower end of each blade is twisted to form a deflecting portion on which the wind impinges to generate an upward movement of air within the chamber, serving to lighten the weight of the rotor on its bearing. A further projecting secondary blade can be secured to each main blade to enhance the scoop effect and to provide a gap between the main and secondary blades.</p>
