Remote braking control for railway - uses spaced signalling points along track for automatic warning of spacing from stop signal and gradient

The remote braking control for the train has two sets of trackside signal points set a distance apart and spaced from the final stop point by a fixed distance. The second signal point provides information to the train's sensors regarding the gradient up to the stop point. The spacing of the signals points provides the train braking control with an accurate speed signal which - with the gradient information - enables the braking control to provide a smooth and controlled retardation to stop the train at the selected point.
