PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound, which is a basic oil of, e.g. rolling oil, grease, plasticizer, fiber lubricant, etc., or an additive, at a high reaction rate, by the reaction of a carboxylic aicd or its anhydride with an aliphatic alcohol. CONSTITUTION:A carboxylic acid ester is prepared by the reaction of a carboxylic acid or its anhydride with an aliphatic alcohol using benzaldehyde sulfonic acid and a phenol compound as a catalyst. EFFECT:The catalyst can be easily and completely removed from the esterified product by filtration. |
