NEW MATERIAL:An antibiotic SUM-3 of formula and its non-toxic acid addition salt. USE:Antibacterials having a powerful antibacterial action against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, and bacteria of the genuses Proteus and Pseudomonus, and Escherichia coli resistant to the well-known antibiotics. Useful as cleaning agents for laboratory glasswave and apparatuses. PROCESS:autibiotic sum-3 producing strains which belong to the genus Micromonospora are cultured in a nutrient medium to produce and accumulate the antibiotic SUM-3, and the title substance is obtained from the cultured product. Micromonos pora sagamiensis SU-2 (FERM-P No. 4230) (NRRL-11182), etc. may be cited as the microorganism to produce the antibiotic SUM-3. |
