NEW MATERIAL:Neoenactin, its functional derivatives and their salts. Properties thereof are as follows. Elemental analysis: C 63.47%, H 10.04%, N 7.44% (0 19.05%); specific rotation: [alpha]<12>D= -14.2 deg. (c=3%, in methanol); positive to color reactions of ninhydrin, naphthoresorcinol-phosphoric acid and KMnO4, negative to color reactions of anthrone-phosphoric acid and alpha-naphthol-phosphoric acid; white amorphous powder; m.p. 60.5-64.5 deg.C; etc. USE:Antifungal antibiotics of non-polyene type. Increase the antifungal effect of trichomycin and amphotericin B, which are known polyene type antibiotics irrespective of the presence or absence of cholesterol. PROCESS:Neoenactin-forming fungi (FERM-P No.4376) is caltured, and neoenactin or its constituent component is separated from the cultured medium and the cells of the fungi. |
