<p>PURPOSE:To provide reformed blast furnace slag which prevents effluence of yellow water effectively and reliably by regulating the concn. of K2O distributed in the mineral phase of slag to below a specific value. CONSTITUTION:To molten blast furnace slag is added several wt% of Shirasu, sand or silica brick each contg. silicic acid, alumina, etc. in operation of a blast furnace in such a range that the desulfurizing power, viscosity, etc. of the slag are not deteriorated. The addn. may be carried out in the early stage of cooling and solidification at above the crystallization temp. of proeutectic merrillite, about 1430 deg.C immediately after discharging the slag from the furnace. The Shirasu or the like may be added both in the operation and after the discharge. By rapidly cooling the slag in the final stage of crystalization from about 1100 deg.C at which concentration of K2O begins, a further improved effect is obtd. Thus, the concn. of K2O distributed in the mineral phase of the slag is regulated to below 15 wt%.</p> |
