Wild oat herbicides of the following general formula: wherein X is a halogen atom and n is an integer 1 to 5; Y represents an optionally substituted aryl group; R represents an azido group or a group of formula -NHNR1R2, in which R1 and R2 each individually represents a hydrogen atom, an optionally substituted alkyl or aryl group, or an alkoxycarbonyl group, or R1 and R2 may together represent a polymethylene group which is optionally interrupted with one or more hetero atoms; and, where the derivatives are capable of forming salts, the salts of said derivatives.
