The assembly is suitable for positioning a vessel relative to the sea bed, and includes a cable which extends downwardly from the vessel towards an anchor. The cable may be coupled to the anchor by a rigid arm whose weight creates a tension in the cable. The arm is universally jointed to the anchor. Alternatively, the lower end of the cable can be coupled via a pulley to a buoy, or to a vertically guided weight.
