NEW MATERIAL:Antibiotic substance DC-5-4 of the formula. USE:Low-toxic antibacterial agent effective to a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. PROCESS:DC-5-4-producing bacteria belonging to Corynebacterium genus, e.g. corynebacterium sp. KY4704 (FERM-P No.3884), are cultured in a medium containing a carbon source, a nitrogen source, an inorganic salt, and essential micro nutrients, at 20-60 deg.C, pref. 20-40 deg.C and pH4-10, pref. 6-8, for usually 1-7 days, under agitation or aeration and agitation; and the DC-5-4 substance is separated from the medium. |
