<p>Cellulosic fiber-containing fabrics are made wrinkle resistant by a durable press process which comprises impregnating the fabric with an aqueous solution containing an alkyl sulfonic acid or sulfuric acid, capable of catalyzing the crosslinking reaction between formaldehyde and cellulose, and then exposing the impregnated fabric, while the fabric has a moisture content of over 20% by weight where the cellulose fibers are substantially completely swollen, to formaldehyde vapors and curing.</p> |
