The voltage controller and reactive power compensator, for power networks, has a capacitor battery and a controllable inductor in parallel with the power network's distribution line. An additional capacitor battery (6) is located in the distribution line (3) in series between the first capacitor battery (4) and the controllable inductor (5). The advantage lies in the controller/compensator regulating the voltage and reactive power smoothly without needing capacitors of large rated power. The controller/compensator is effective over a wide range of loads with various power factors.
