<p>Adducts of (1) an olefin with at least 6 C atoms, and (2) a thionophosphine sulphide dimer of formula (II) (in which R is a 1-18C organic gp.) and their reaction prods. with amines (e.g. alkylene polyamines, aziridines, or phosphines) or metal salts are additives for lubricating oils and fuels. The adducts are anti-oxidants and those from higher olefins also have a detergent action. When reacted with polyamines and ethylene imine, adducts of sufficiently high mol. wt. and their metal salts are very efficient dispersing agents and oxidn. inhibitors. Adducts from polyolefins of very high mol. wt. improve viscosity index.</p> |
