A micro-film unit, especially for safe-guarding information during automatic document processing by recording the content of documents, where high transport speed and filming of the documents 11 whilst moving in direction 10 necessitate a high illumination strength such as is offered only by light sources involving a high heat dissipation. In order to achieve adequate spacing between the light source 81 and the recording station within a small overall volume a prismatic body 7 is provided to link a conveyor belt camera 92, 93 plane and recording plane, being interposed into the beam path at the recording station. The prismatic body 7 consists of a generally flat plate with a narrow edge adjacent the document 11 to be reproduced, and is provided with a reflective base surface 71 to direct light from the entry surface to a recording window and direct reflected light to an outlet window. The latter two windows divide the edge of the plate that is remote from the reflective base surface 71 into two unequal sections, to achieve maximum illumination and output. The micro-film unit can be used as an integral component of a document sorting, processing or read-out apparatus. <IMAGE> |
